Governance & Transparency

At Impact Fitness Academy CIC, we believe in being open and transparent about how we are governed, how we operate, and how we use our resources to deliver impact for our community.

1. Governance Statement

Impact Fitness Academy CIC is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) with Companies House in the UK. The organisation is governed by a Board of Directors, which provides oversight, sets the strategic direction, and ensures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. The Board’s key responsibilities include approving the annual budget and financial strategy, monitoring financial and operational performance, overseeing risk management, safeguarding, and health & safety, as well as ensuring that all activities align with the organisation’s community objectives. As a CIC, Impact Fitness Academy operates for the benefit of the community and reinvests any surpluses back into its programmes. In line with its accountability obligations, the company files statutory accounts and annual reports with Companies House, which are publicly available.

2. Our Strategy

Our strategy is focused on increasing physical activity, improving wellbeing, and creating positive opportunities for underrepresented communities in Birmingham and beyond. To achieve this, we have identified a number of strategic priorities. Inclusion is at the heart of our work, as we aim to engage underrepresented groups such as girls and women, ethnic minority communities, people with disabilities, and individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds in sport and fitness. We prioritise Participation by working to increase levels of regular physical activity among those who are currently less active. Through Development, we support young people and adults to build skills, confidence, and leadership through sport. We also focus on Community Impact, using sport as a powerful tool to improve mental health, community cohesion, and broader social outcomes. Finally, our commitment to Sustainability ensures that we build strong partnerships, diversify income streams, and maintain the long-term stability and growth of the organisation.

3. Our Activities (Past Year)

Over the past 12 months, Impact Fitness Academy CIC has made a significant contribution to the community through a wide range of activities and initiatives. We have delivered 1,144 community fitness sessions across Birmingham, engaging a total of 17,160 participants, including children, young people, and adults from underrepresented groups. By partnering with local schools and community organisations, we have been able to provide tailored programmes that meet the specific needs of different communities. In addition, we have trained and supported six volunteers and coaches, helping to build local capacity and strengthen our impact. Alongside our sport sessions, we have delivered health and wellbeing workshops, and we have also hosted community events, tournaments, and campaigns designed to promote inclusion and encourage greater participation in physical activity.
